A vertical helix wind turbine is the
other types of the vertical-axis wind turbine, they aren't right for your home
use but it becoming very popular now. The rotor shaft of a vertical wind
turbine rotates perpendicular to the earth surface. The rotor shaft of
horizontal wind turbines rotates parallel to the
earth surface. Horizontal turbines resemble the classic windmill and vertical
turbines have been nicknamed "eggbeaters" because of the way they
look.
The
advantages of vertical wind turbine systems are:
1. Horizontal turbines are slow in
flowing compare to verticals handle turbulent.
2. When problems arise then vertical
turbines are easier and cheaper to access because they are located closer to
the ground.
3. They don't have to
"find" the wind with a tail.
4. The vertical wind turbines are safer
for birds and bats.
The disadvantages
of vertical wind turbines are:
1. The vertical wind turbines are costly.
2. Vertical wind turbine operates
with very high torque, so in low wind its blades can’t rotate.
